I had a discussion with a friend Kelvin Umechukwu about a week ago and since he’s currently a co-organiser, he suggested I serve as a judge for the challenge in Nsukka, Enugu. Errr why not?

The challenge was intended to run across 4 locations, Ile-ife, Kaduna, Enugu and Uyo with winners from each location competing for the final offer.

The sponsors of the competition(http://ja-nigeria.org/) selected a solution to be built which involves an Android application focused on education and the team had 48 hours to come up with an app worthy of presentation :). Some notable partners are http://consonance.club , RoarHub and GDGUNN.

Naturally, I like hackathons and the adrenaline rush they bring. I was pretty much excited to be in such an environment.

The teams didn’t disappoint and I met with some brilliant individuals whose works were amazing. Here are some pictures of the participants;

Kosi, pulled some stunt there!!
Emmanuel — Came a long way to participate
Emmanuel and Valentine — Both are Andela Nigeria ALC graduates
Chizzi — The guy with the best UI, designed everything on Adobe XD before writing code
Chizzi’s designs for his application.

The judgement criteria touched the following;

It was a tight one to announce the winner as we had a tie for the runner-up and second runner-up positions but there had to be a winner and Team Wakanda won!

Team Wakanda duo right in the middle

I had enlightening discussion with some students and met a particularly interesting person, Michael who is into building security tools and finding exploits and that’s something I won’t forget in a long time!

I was impressed with the quality of works in UNN and also having a hub on campus is cool with ease of access by students unlike some institutions (side eye OAU).

Good luck to those having the hackathon in Uyo on June 7th and 8th!

Till another time, amusez-vous bien !
